Social Work

Our Rockingham General Hospital Social Work department works with patients, relatives and carers to help them manage with, and adjust to, the patient’s health condition.

These services are provided across:

  • outpatient clinics
  • general medicine, general surgical and paediatric wards
  • community mental health services.

Our services are provided via referral to all inpatient wards of the hospital and continues with some patients and families after leaving the hospital through outpatient clinics.

These services include:

  • planning and support for returning home from hospital
  • emotional and social support, practical assistance related to illness, treatment and life changes
  • crisis intervention and support
  • referral to community supports and agencies
  • referral to appropriate financial assistance agencies
  • support to access legal services.

Please call Rockingham General Hospital main switchboard on 9599 4000 and ask to speak with the Social Work department.

Hours of operation

8am – 4pm, Monday to Friday
