Transition to Nursing and Midwifery Practice Programs
The Rockingham Peel Group Transition to Nursing and Midwifery Practice Program supports you to transition from a student to a newly qualified nurse or midwife, developing confidence as you consolidate your clinical skills.
Rockingham Peel Group is an evolving and expanding healthcare provider within the South Metropolitan Health Service. Through access to preceptorship and flexible education and learning opportunities, our dynamic nursing team will assist you to further develop your clinical knowledge and competence in hospital-based care.
About the program
To give you a strong career foundation, the program offers experience in general nursing and midwifery as well as in clinical specialties such as emergency care, medical assessment unit, theatres, mental health and paediatrics.
Participating enrolled and registered nurses and midwives are provided:
- part-time work (4 days/week)
- 12-month fixed term contract
- 2 intakes per year
- 2 clinical rotations of 6 months each (enrolled and registered nurses only)
- a Transition to Practice Program certificate on completion
- comprehensive orientation
- graduate specific study days
- graduate study days/eLearning in association with SMHS Graduate Midwifery Program (midwives only)
- unit specific learning plans to facilitate clinical and educational experience
- preceptor support
- access to other professional development opportunities
- supernumerary time
- SMHS Mental Health Transition to Practice Program.
