Waikiki RkPG Peninsula Ward is up and running

Located in the Waikiki Private Hospital, and only a five-minute drive from Rockingham General Hospital, the Peninsula Ward is an important element of the South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) Winter Strategy.
Having been open since June 2, the 20 extra beds work to reduce pressure on the State’s health system over the busy winter season.
The ward supports patients who are medically cleared for discharge, helping co-locate this patient group and making beds available at Rockingham General Hospital for patients who require acute care.
SMHS Winter Commander Sally Okoye thanked staff for their great work in getting this ward ready.
“Standing up a new ward is a significant achievement. Staff from across the hospital have continued to work together to support high-quality care for patients,” Sally said.
“Creating dedicated capacity helps patients move to the right place for their care and supports flow across the system through winter” she added.
RkPG Executive Director Asheila Narang said the extra 20 beds was clearly improving patient flow over winter.
“Importantly they have freed up spaces in our medical wards for patients who need acute medical care. I would also like to thank the Waikiki Private Hospital staff for supporting this initiative.” Asheila said.
The ward is expected to operate until November this year.
