Our volunteer programs
RGH Auxiliary
Established in 1976, the RGH Auxiliary manages Elanora’s Café and Gift Shop. Profits from these retail outlets are reinvested back into the hospital to fund specialised equipment and a scholarship program for staff development.
The Auxiliary’s diverse membership extends from school children through to retirees and includes opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in volunteer roles.
Friends of RGH
Formally established in 2002, the Friends of RGH oversee a number of support programs for patients and visitors. These programs include:
- a concierge service
- a Parents’ Support Program to support families with children undergoing day surgery
- knitting and distributing trauma teddies
- refreshing flowers
- provision of emergency overnight stay toiletry kits.
Volunteer Transport Service
Established in 1999, this service provides transport to and from the hospital for more vulnerable community members who are unable to access family support or public transport.
Radio Lollipop
Introduced into the paediatric ward in 2009, Radio Lollipop (external site) brings laughter, fun and games to our younger patients to make their hospital more fun and less daunting.
A small group of volunteers run the satellite Radio Lollipop service at our hospital, supported by Radio Lollipop at Perth Children’s Hospital.
For more information, email the Radio Lollipop office or phone 9340 8835.
Consumer Advisory Council
The Consumer Advisory Council (CAC) includes consumer, carer and community members provides consumer advice, direction and advocacy for the planning and delivery of health care provided by RkPG.
