It's been 12 months since the Women's Outpatient Centre opened at Rockingham General Hospital (RGH).

In that time the centre, which is dedicated to women's healthcare, has seen more than 12,500 patients.

One of those patients, who attended the centre at 37 weeks pregnant, provided us with this feedback following their experience with the centre -
"All the midwives I've seen at Rockingham General Hospital have been so lovely and have been really considerate. They always take the time to listen and answer any questions I've had. "

The women's health hub was established to meet rising demands for both antenatal and postnatal appointments, obstetrics, and gynaecology services.

In July last year, various general and specialised outpatient services moved into a newly refurbished external building, enabling a more accessible and private women's focused service.

The centre creates the optimal environment for patients and clinicians to have open conversations on treatment pathways and provides the space for families of all ages to be included and involved.

RGH Clinical Midwifery Specialist for the Women's Outpatient Centre, Sharon Beckwith, said co-locating these services had vastly improved the patient experience.

"A significant benefit of the new Women's Outpatient Centre is the ability to have all specialist groups in the same clinic this incudes gynaecology, obstetrics, midwifery and a range of ante and postnatal treatments" Sharon said.

"There is now an increased collaboration amongst teams to guarantee optimal clinical outcomes through shorter wait times for new and review appointments along with streamlined decision-making and treatment planning"

"Since the move women have provided us with some great feedback to say that they love the feeling of a purpose built space dedicated to women's healthcare - this is fantastic to hear after our first year of operation and I know that we can only build on that over time."
