Inpatient services
Rockingham General Hospital provides a range of inpatient services for our patients.
Here, we provide an overview of these services by specialty.
All inpatient services are supported by Allied Health, Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, PathWest, Hospital in the Home (HITH), Rehabilitation in the Home (RITH) and Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT).
Aged Care and Rehabilitation
- Aged Care Rehabilitation Unit (ACRU) including Acute Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) and Rehabilitation
- Outpatient services – allied health service including dedicated day therapy services
- Outpatient clinics including falls, memory, general rehabilitation, stroke and Parkinsons
- Residential Care Line (RCL)

Burns
- Emergency Department service only
- Minor burns treated conservatively with potential post discharge follow up with GP and or specialist multidisciplinary care teams at RPH (Adults) and PMH (Children)
ENT
- Low to moderate risk patients (including paediatric) patients by visiting ENT surgeon
Emergency Department / Trauma
- Generalist medical and surgical support for adult and paediatric patients
- Access to ICU/HDU
- Primary retrieval, assessment, resuscitation, emergency surgery, stabilisation and transfer to State Major Trauma Centres at RPH and PMH
- 24-hour, 7-day a week Mental Health Liaison Service via the RGH Emergency Department
Endocrinology (Rockingham Endocrine and Diabetes Service)
- Endocrinologist clinics for general diabetes, Type 1 diabetes
- Rapid Access, General Endocrinology and Aboriginal Health (Mooditj Koort in Kwinana)
- Credentialed Diabetes Educator led clinics (individual and group) for general education, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes
- Type 2 Insulin initiation and stabilisation and insulin pump initiation and stabilisation
- Specialist dietician clinics for education, carbohydrate counting and weight management
- Specialist podiatry for eligible patients
- Diabetes clinical psychology
Gastroenterology
- Outpatient clinics by gastroenterologists
- Endoscopy and related procedures performed by gastroenterologists
- Inpatient gastroenterology consultancy by gastroenterologists
