Rockingham Peel Group (RkPG) has celebrated the contributions of its many volunteers at a series of events this week.

On Tuesday, Rockingham General Hospital (RGH) volunteer groups including Friends of RGH, the RGH Auxiliary, Radio Lollipop, volunteer patient transport drivers and the Consumer Advisory Council were acknowledged with a special lunch at the Cruising Yacht Club.

Volunteers enjoyed catching up with one another over lunch and celebrating the achievements of some long-serving members.

SMHS Board Chair Rob McDonald and Board Member Yvonne Parnell were on hand to acknowledge the exceptional contributions of the volunteers. Long service awards were also presented to those who had reached significant milestones.

On Thursday, Murray District Hospital (MDH) honoured its volunteers as part of its staff and volunteer Christmas lunch, attended by Friends of MDH and the Red Cross. SMHS Board Chair Rob McDonald and Board member Kim Gibson were in attendance along with members of RkPG Executive.

Among the long service award recipients was Maureen Hayes, who has been volunteering with Friends of MDH for a remarkable 25 years, and Lynette Rozmus who has been volunteering with the Red Cross for an amazing 45 years.

RkPG A/Executive Director Kath Smith said all volunteers played a vital role in making each patient’s hospital experience a better one.

“It takes a special person to volunteer and we are enormously thankful for their dedication,” she said.
