Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy supports people of all abilities to engage in the activities (also known as occupations) they find meaningful.

Services offered by our occupational therapy department will support your recovery following illness or injury, physiological or emotional difficulties, or to manage the effects of ageing.

We provide services across Rockingham General Hospital, Mandurah Community Health Centre and Murray District Hospital.

Our occupational therapists work with you to increase your independence and wellbeing by maximising your ability to complete daily living activities including:

  • looking after yourself
  • completing household tasks
  • caring for others
  • work and leisure activities.

Together you and your occupational therapist will address barriers that prevent you from participating in activities by:

  • assessing your function and ability to engage in day-to-day activities
  • undertaking treatment to improve your function and meet your goals
  • modifying the activity
  • providing education to build your knowledge and skills
  • helping you change the environment to suit your needs.

Our services are provided across a number of sites and speciality areas. Patients seen at Murray District Hospital have often been seen by teams at Peel Health Campus or Rockingham Hospital prior to admission to Murray District Hospital.
