An ‘inspiration’ and ‘true role model’ are just some of the words used to describe Theatre Clinical Nurse Terrie Stephens who has become the first Rockingham Peel Group Employee of the Year.

Terrie was awarded December 2018 Employee of the Month for conducting herself with a high level of professionalism in every situation and providing practical and emotional support in times of stress.

Having worked at Rockingham General Hospital since 1991, Terrie is always willing to share her years of knowledge with her colleagues.

Winners of the Employee of the Month Awards throughout 2018 made up the impressive group of finalists for the annual award presented on 14 June.

Employee of the Month Committee Chair, Surgery and Specialist Care Nursing Co-Director Heather Pearce, said Terrie was chosen by the committee for demonstrating the organisation’s values.

“Terrie goes above and beyond to offer support, comfort and solutions in a calm and professional manner,” Heather said.

“She has become an invaluable source of knowledge and wisdom to her colleagues and is known for going the extra mile for patients.”

In her acceptance speech Terrie expressed her gratitude for receiving the award and revealed that she plans to retire later this month after a long and happy career at Rockingham General Hospital.

“I’ve worked at this hospital for 28 years and I’ve enjoyed every single day,” Terrie said.

“We are so lucky to work with such wonderful people here at Rockingham.”
