Murray District Hospital (MDH) now has a new state-of-the-art wheelchair after a recent donation from the Friends of MDH.

MDH Advanced Skilled Enrolled Nurse, Mary Storie, said the wheelchair is already making a big difference when transporting patients.

“The new wheelchair is more comfortable for our patients with back and neck support, providing a safer ride experience.

“We regularly transport patients to other hospitals and facilities for outpatient appointments; we can now facilitate patients to the highest standard of safety in a wheelchair taxi.”

The new wheelchair has impressive features including a high back headrest, non-tip wheels and a pressure cushion for pressure management.

The hospital is most grateful to the Friends of MDH for donating the $2,300 wheelchair to provide the best patient experience.
